It has been a great few weeks!  Basketball season
has started for my daughter, Emily.

She is a very competitive player and gives it her all. After practice, she always love to go to Subway....her favorite place to eat!!
Every year I am invited to go on a ladies shopping trip with my sister who lives several hours away.  My other sister and my Mom goes as well.  It is such a fun time and I look forward to it so much!  I'm not always able to go but I did this year!  It's so nice for us all to be together!

We always have tons of fun, laughs and memories.
Anyway, I came across this picture of my grandchildr and I just had to share!  They were recently in a wedding and they are just the most adorable kids ever!!
I just love them!
Don't forget that November is Diabetes awareness month!
Get yourself tested is you think you are having symptoms, eat healthy and exercise!  My diabetes is under control and I couldn't be more thankful!!

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Philippians 4:13

It's a beautiful fall day today!  The sun is shining bright, there's a good breeze, leaves are flying all around and the air is crisp and cool!  I can't wait til later today when I can get out and take a nice walk.  All of the leaves on our trees are starting to turn the gorgeous hues or orange, red and yellow.  I love the crunch of leaves under my feet and the brisk feeling in the air.
We had a fun and busy weekend.  On Saturday, we enjoyed the housewarming party of my daughter and son-in-law.  They were able to purchase their first house not long ago.  We are so happy for them!

Since being diagnosed with diabetes, I depend on
walking everyday as part of my exercise. Walking helps with weight loss and also helps to lower my blood sugar and as well as many others benefits.  Although I love fall and everything about it, I know winter is coming next and some days I won't be able to be outside walking.  We do have a membership to the local YMCA so I can exercise inside, but there's nothing like walking outside.  It's so peaceful, and time goes by so fast when your walking outside. Whether or not you have diabetes, or you are on a weight loss plan, or are practicing living a healthy lifestyle.....you should still get out and take plenty of walks.  Walking is very beneficial to your health!!  Even on those days where you don't feel like it or you are out of shape....just make up your mind and do it!

I was spending the day with my Mom the other day and it turned out that we were both wearing our bright yellow shirts, so I had to take a pic! Love my Mom!

Summer 2014

Well, I would like to say that I've been really busy and haven't had time to blog, however the truth is that I just wasn't motivated enough!  I just went through a time when I couldn't decide whether I wanted to keep my blog or just let it go.  This blog was started when a lot of my family was out of state.  I enjoyed sharing our pictures and activities with family and friends.  I also liked to post some recipes that my husband and kids really liked.  Some of my family has moved back into the area, but I guess that having a blog just gives me an out to write down some of my thoughts. So, I guess I will continue on with my blog.  If your interested in reading about an average everyday person and my family, then feel free to follow me and as always, all comments are welcome.
I have just begun a new journey in my life....Diabetes.
No one, ever, ever, ever wants to hear their  Dr. say that word.  During a recent 4 day stay at OSF, I was informed that diabetes is very prominent in my life.  My first instinct was denial......then I decided to get on board and control my diabetes before the diabetes controls me!!  So,  that was 4 weeks and 3 days ago.  I have changed my lifestyle, started exercising, have been eating a low-carb diet and feeling pretty good!  Today, I walked 1.8 miles and I actually enjoyed it!  As of today, I'm down 17 lbs from when I was weighed in the hospital!!!
   So here I am......

I know with support from my friends, family, and Jesus Christ.....I will be fine!
