Amazing summer.....

We are still having an amazing summer here in Illinois!  It makes it so easy to keep active when the weather is so good!  Well,  last week was the end of softball for this year.  I love watching the girls play, but ready for a few other things.  They played very well and ended up winning 2nd for their league!!  Congrats to all the girls and their coaches!!

Now, instead of sitting at the ball park, we sit and fish in the evenings........

and during the day.....he cracks me up....the most impatient fisher boy I have ever seen!  As Mom said, it's like fishing with Barney Fife!

I've enjoyed spending time with family....I recently spent the day with my grand-kids and nieces....we had a great time at Lake Story!

We got a kick out of watching my daughter do cartwheels....

On a serious note, I had an appointment with my diabetic counselor recently!  I am doing good and got a lot of encouragement from her.   I am still eating healthy,
even at Olive Garden.....haha  This is a picture of their new menu choice, the trout and instead of the pasta side dish, I chose broccoli. Very good!   I am happy to say that I have lost 30lbs now!! Also, my blood sugar has been great too!
I have a lot more to go but I have gotten off to a good start!

Emily's Softball Game

I haven't taken very many pictures of Emily's softball games, so I took my camera with me last night.  We played in Ipava  and found out after we got there that we were playing the late game!   At least we had shade in the bleachers!  haha
Here is Emily and Courtney waiting for their turn at bat...

Emily sometimes plays catcher...here she is with all her gear on..

Emily and her coach

sorry about the fence
                      Her last time at bat
                                 Wait for it.......
Good job Emily!!!!   Too bad you got out!!
Final score for the game was 8-9...we lost by one point!  For this season they are 2 and 2.  I really enjoy watching them play!!

Summer has started!

On May 23rd, My Mom celebrated her 69th Birthday!!  Happy Birthday to my sweet, Beautiful Mother!
Sharon Lonas

Also on May 23, was Emily's first softball game!  She played a great game.  For part of the game she played 2nd base, and for the rest she was catcher..

                             She looks so tiny!

Other than myself, here are her loyal fans...
The highlight of her summer vacation so far was when Uncle Tom and Aunt Becky came to visit and brought her a huge jar of pickles!!

She's a child after my own heart!
We were running errands in Galesburg, and when I asked Emily where she wanted to eat lunch, she said "Can we please go to McDonald's cause they have those scrumptious little cheeseburgers!" haha  So, here she is eating one of those cheeseburgers!!

Of course, Derek and I liked it too!

Big Mac attack

We stopped at the Knox County humane society to volunteer.  We chose an older chocolate lab to take outside and walk.  He was such a sweet dog!!

Poor guy!  How could you not love this face???  I hope he finds a really good forever home!
Each one of them also found a favorite cat to play with!  Very lovable cats!

We really did have a great day!

Beautiful Day

We have had a lot of rain and the humidity has been high.  We finally had a pretty decent day and everyone wanted to be outside!  First, I had to do some laundry.  I looked outside and John was working in the garden.
Getting ready to plant beets

18 tomato plants

Onions are up!
Then I  left and went to the store, the bank, and the
post office.  When I got back, I looked outside again.

John was still working in the garden and now Derek is helping!
So, I made some homemade spaghetti sauce and put it in the crock pot.  Then it was downstairs to do more laundry.  Beds were made, lunch over, bathroom cleaned.  I looked back outside and saw this.....

John and Derek were still busy working in the garden.  They did cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, 2 kinds of radishes, 4 cherry tomatoes, 18 regular tomato plants, onion seeds, more onion sets, green beans, beets, habaneros, jalapenos, 3 colors of bell peppers, potatoes, watermelon and probably something that I forgot!  Can't wait for the harvest!
In the meantime,
I finished the laundry, put all the clothes away, vacuumed, picked out all the clothes for Sunday, filled medicine boxes and piddled around for awhile.  When I looked out the back door, I seen this.....
Concentrating

going for the Father of the Year award!

Wow..great catch!

Yes Derek, that was a ball

Dive for it

and of course, can't for get the dog...
