The Month of May

The Month of may has flown by!   There was so much happening!  My oldest daughter, Crystal had a Birthday and turned 27!  

   Shortly there after, I had a Birthday!  I wish I could say I was 27, however, that was not the case!  lol

We went to King Gyros for supper, on my Birthday!  I Love eating there!

Mom got some of my family together and surprised me with a trip to Olive Gardens for lunch, which is one of my favorite placed to go!  

We also went shopping at a few little shops in Kickapoo that I like.  Thank You so much, Mom for a wonderful day!

Well, next in May was Mother's Day!

John and I fixed lunch for our Mothers.  We made grilled Tilapia, grilled veggies, Asian salad, fruit salad and lemon dessert!  It was very good!

My kids got together a little later in the day and got me  gift certificates for a day at the spa!  It was wonderful!

Derek had been complaining about his arm hurting for a few hours.  We tried the usual, ice packs and ibuprofen but it just wasn't working.  So up to the ER we drove.

Turns out that he pulled a muscle and had to wear a sling for several days!  Poor Derek!!

Beautiful Day

We have had a lot of rain and the humidity has been high.  We finally had a pretty decent day and everyone wanted to be outside!  First, I had to do some laundry.  I looked outside and John was working in the garden.

 Then I  left and went to the store, the bank, and the

post office.  When I got back, I looked outside again.

 John was still working in the garden and now Derek is helping!

So, I made some homemade spaghetti sauce and put it in the crock pot.  Then it was downstairs to do more laundry.  Beds were made, lunch over, bathroom cleaned.  I looked back outside and saw this.....

John and Derek were still busy working in the garden.  They did cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, 2 kinds of radishes, 4 cherry tomatoes, 18 regular tomato plants, onion seeds, more onion sets, green beans, beets, habaneros, jalapenos, 3 colors of bell peppers, potatoes, watermelon and probably something that I forgot!  Can't wait for the harvest!

In the meantime,

I finished the laundry, put all the clothes away, vacuumed, picked out all the clothes for Sunday,filled medicine boxes and piddled around for awhile.  When I looked out the back door, I seen this.....

We are so proud of our son Derek!  He was the fifth grade boy chosen to have breakfast with the principal at the annual Illinois Principals Association held this year at WIU.  One fifth grade boy and one fifth grade girl is chosen every year for having the qualities of an exceptional student.  It meant so much to Derek to be chosen!!
